چکیده

Context. The disk-outflow connection is thought to play a key role in extracting excess angular momentum from a forming proto-star. Though jet rotation has been observed in a few objects, no rotation of molecular outflows has been unambiguously reported so far. Aims. We report new millimeter-interferometric observations of the edge-on T Tauri star – disk system in the isolated Bok globule CB 26. The aim of these observations was to study the disk-outflow relation in this 1 Myr old low-mass young stellar object. Methods. The IRAM PdBI array was used to observe 12CO(2–1) at 1.3 mm in two configurations, resulting in spectral line maps with 1.5′′ resolution. We use an empirical parameterized steady-state outflow model combined with 2-D line radiative transfer calculations and χ2-minimization in parameter space to derive a best-fit model and constrain parameters of the outflow. Results. The data reveal a previously undiscovered collimated bipolar molecular outflow of total length ≈ 2000 AU, escaping perpendicular to the plane of the disk. We find peculiar kinematic signatures that suggest the outflow is rotating with the same orientation as the disk. However, we could not ultimately exclude jet precession or two misaligned flows as possible origin of the observed peculiar velocity field. There is indirect indication that the embedded driving source is a binary system, which, together with the youth of the source, could provide the clue to the observed kinematic features of the outflow. Conclusions. CB 26 is so far the most promising source to study the rotation of a molecular outflow. Assuming that the outflow is rotating, we compute and compare masses, mass flux, angular momenta, and angular momentum flux of disk and outflow and derive disk dispersal timescales of 0.5 . . . 1 Myr, comparable to the age of the system.

Propeller-driven Outflows and Disk Oscillations

We report the discovery of propeller-driven outflows in axisymmetric magnetohydrodynamic simulations of disk accretion to rapidly rotating magnetized stars. Matter outflows in a wide cone and is centrifugally ejected from the inner regions of the disk. Closer to the axis there is a strong, collimated, magnetically dominated outflow of energy and angular momentum carried by the open magnetic fie...

Two new T Tauri stars and a candidate FU Orionis star associated with Bok globules

We present photometric and spectroscopic evidence of two new T Tauri stars formed in the conditions of isolated small Bok globules. The spectral energy distributions of these objects display excess infrared emission, they are associated with optical reflection nebulae, and their optical spectra reveal Balmer emission lines and the Li I λ6707 Å absorption line. Additionnally, we report the disco...

Evidence for stellar driven outflows from the Classical T Tauri Star RY Tau

RY Tau is a rapidly rotating Classical T Tauri star observed close to edge-on. The combination of new HST/STIS observations obtained in 2001 with HST/GHRS Archive data from 1993 has allowed us to get, for the first time, information on the thermal structure and the velocity law of the wind. The repeated observations of the Si III] and C III] lines show a lack of changes with time in the blue si...

We present sub-arcsecond resolution millimeter-wave images of a circumstellar disk in the Bok globule CB 26. The presence of an edge-on disk is confirmed by the dust continuum morphology and the velocity field of 13 CO emission, which displays a Keplerian rotation pattern about an axis perpendicular to the long axis of the dust emission. We deduce a mass ∼0.3 M ⊙ for the obscured central star. ...

We describe a new radial velocity survey of T Tauri stars and present the first results. Our search is motivated by an interest in detecting massive young planets, as well as investigating the origin of the brown dwarf desert. As part of this survey, we discovered large-amplitude, periodic, radial velocity variations in the spectrum of the weak line T Tauri star LkCa 19. Using line bisector ana...
